Renting a motorcycle with a foreign licence

Driving licences issued in Europe (EU, EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland)
Easy Renter accepts all driving licences issued within the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA). Indeed, according to the European Union, driving licences issued within the EU and the EEA are valid in all EU countries. This rule applies to motorcycle licences A, A2, and A1.
Although they are not part of the EU or the EEA, driving licences issued in the United Kingdom and Switzerland are also recognised in France for a short stay, as is the case for a tourist motorcycle or scooter rental. The same licence conditions apply (see below).
The driving licence requirements:
- Licence category requirements are met - The driver needs to hold the necessary licence category to rent the motorcycle or scooter. To learn more about accepted categories, please read the following page.
- The driving licence seniority - Your driving licence must be at least 2 years old for the specific vehicle category of the motorcycle or scooter you wish to rent.
- The licence must still be valid during your rental - The driving licence must not have been suspended or expired.

Driving licences issued outside this list
Easy Renter also accepts driving licences issued outside this list. For more information on your ability to drive in France, we recommend that you consult the following page on the French website of ServicePublic.fr.
The driving licence requirements:
- Licence category requirements are met - For foreign licences, we use three motorcycle licence categories: A, A2 and A1. Our rental conditions are aligned with these three categories. The driver needs to hold the necessary licence to rent the chosen motorcycle or scooter. To learn more about the different categories, please read the following page.
- The driving licence seniority - Your motorcycle or scooter licence must be at least 2 years old.
- Your licence must be valid during your rental - The driving licence must not have been suspended or expired.
- Accompany your licence with an official translation or an international driving permit - In France, to be able to drive, your driving licence must either be written in French or accompanied by an official translation, such as an international driving permit or a certified translation.
