Warm welcome at Moto Extrême in Bayonne. A workshop manager who is very professional and accommodating. The 500 Caballero feels secure due to its seat height, allowing you to plant your feet flat on the ground. Overall, a light feeling that makes it very maneuverable. Very precise in the front end, easy to lean into curves. The engine is lively but doesn’t like low revs; it "knocks" and reminds you to shift. Plenty of power to overtake on winding country roads. Tested with a passenger, there is little space for the pillion, who is really pressed up against the rider—I would say it’s a bike that brings you close together. More suited to city riding in this case, not made for rides over 50 km in my opinion. That is just my view, as I think it would be great for younger riders.
The rental went very well without any problems. (Translated from French)
The positives: The dealership and the team managing it are top-notch. The Suzuki 800 DE was almost new. We took a trip to Saint Jacques de Compostelle and back to Bayonne in 8 days of riding. It performed excellently, and I found it slightly better than the Ténéré (which a friend participating in our trip had also rented) — riding position, seat comfort, and engine power are better on the Suzuki. The weight difference is barely noticeable when stationary. The windscreen and the seat that doesn’t let in water (normal, it’s a board!!!) are better on the Yamaha. Both have forks that are too soft for my taste — they dive severely under hard braking. The negatives: The contractual flexibility. Our group realized halfway through that we would exceed the contractual mileage allowance of 1,600 km. I then contacted Easy Renter to add an extra package... Request that Easy Renter refused... So I ended up paying for each additional kilometer at the contract’s full rate. I don’t know if Moto Extreme was consulted by Easy Renter about my request, but I paid the full price for the extra kilometers. Not a scam... just the strict application of the contract which cannot be modified mid-way. Nothing to complain about except that my friend who rented the Ténéré from the Yamaha dealer (just steps away from the Suzuki Moto Extreme dealership) got a per-kilometer rate that beat all competitors!!! Truly unbeatable!!! In short, if you need to rent a bike for a week to cover a lot of miles and you hesitate between a Ténéré and an 800 DE, go directly to Yam 64 in Bayonne. It will cost you much less. All this does not detract from the friendliness and professionalism of the Moto Extreme team and the seriousness and efficiency of the Easy Renter platform.
